Holt Grant - How To Apply

About the Geoffrey L. Holt Fund:

In 2001, Geoffrey L. Holt executed an agreement with the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to establish a donor-advised fund to be funded through his estate. Since Mr. Holt’s passing in June of 2023, the Fund has been opened and partially funded. Mr. Holt identified the Fund’s purpose and advisory committee as follows:

• Purpose: To support projects, programs and organizations that provide health, educational, recreational, or cultural benefits to the residents of Hinsdale, New Hampshire.

• Advisory Committee: Edwin O. Smith, John D. Smith, Lewis D. Major (deceased, 2020).

How will funds be disbursed from the Holt Fund?

Who can apply? The Advisory Committee will accept grant applications from 501(c)(3) public charities, schools, municipal and government entities, religious organizations, and private operating foundations. Other community groups that do not have 501(c)(3) status can apply in partnership with an eligible fiscal sponsor. Grants are intended to supplement and not replace existing funding sources.

How are decisions made? All applications are reviewed by the Advisory Committee, which makes grant recommendations to the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Recommendations are advisory. As an asset of the Foundation, the Foundation has legal control of Holt Fund and must comply with donoradvised fund and related requirements. Award notifications specifying the amount and purpose of the grant will be emailed from the Foundation prior to the distribution of the physical grant check.
