Hinsdale's Water System
Dear residents,
Many of you might remember the water line surveys that were mailed out to customers on our town water system. So many were returned and we thank you for your participation! The data collected from those surveys along with data that Hinsdale’s Water Department collected, enabled our NHDES appointed consultant Hazen and Sawyer to generate a comprehensive spreadsheet, meeting the NHDES deadline of October 16, 2024. This spreadsheet identifies all the known materials used to deliver water to our customers, as well as, isolated the areas of Hinsdale’s systems that have not yet been identified, named as “unknown”. “Customer Notice-Unknown Water Service Line Material”, are locations that both the customer side and the Town owned side have been clearly identified with documented evidence satisfying the Environmental Protection Services (EPA) requirement. Customers receiving a letter, “Customer Notice-Unknown Water Service Line Material”, are locations that still need investigation. If you are a property owner that did complete your survey, receiving the mailer means the town side of water service still needs adequate documentation for the EPA. In order to meet the EPA requirement, homeowners that have elected to have paperless billing or properties with new ownership since the consultant compiled the information, and have materials still needing to be documented will receive the mailer “Customer Notice-Unknown Water Service Line Material”. The Hinsdale Water Department is working hard to collect all of the information that the EPA requires to see where lead may or may not be throughout our system.
